Spearmint (Mentha Spicata) is native to the UK, Europe and Asia but has naturalised further afield to America and Africa. It is commonly known as garden mint.
As a tea it has many virtues. It is a deliciously refreshing drink but with the bonus of many reputed medicinal qualities. It was revered by ancient Romans for its ability to ‘stir up the mind’ and more recently has developed a reputation the for its powers to sooth the stomach, reducing nausea and tummy troubles.
It can be drunk on its own as a caffeine free drink or added with gunpowder green tea to make the classic Moroccan Mint tea.
Its other call to fame is as a sauce to accompany roast lamb. A truly multi-talented herb.
Brewing Instructions: Brew with freshly drawn boiled water that has been allowed to cool for 2 minutes for 3-5 minutes.
