Genmaicha Japanese green tea is unique in that it reminds you of going to the cinema. The popcorn smell is in fact roasted brown rice which is mixed 50/50 with Bancha tea. Strange bedfellows but it works so well, and as with so many brilliant inventions it was born of necessity. The addition of rice made the tea go further and is known as ‘The Peoples Tea’ in Japan.
In our opinion, its distinctive sweet nutty flavour makes it a tea for special occasions, but its relatively low caffeine and mildness also give it the credentials as being an every day tea, and good for beginners.
Brew with freshly drawn or filtered boiled water, cooled for 2 minutes, for 1 to 3 minutes.
Ingredients: green tea, roasted rice, puffed rice. Produce of Japan.
